Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the STEIG app and website. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy policy.
1. Provider
STEIG is provided by Tjark Gerken, Titlisstrasse 40, 8032 Zürich, Switzerland, reachable at tjark@steig.app. Further details are in the imprint.
2. The service
STEIG helps you plan your own training, log workouts, analyse activities and track recovery. STEIG is currently in beta and free of charge. Features may change, be added or be removed while we develop the app, and the service may occasionally be unavailable.
If we introduce paid features, we will tell you about prices and conditions before you are charged. Nothing is charged without your explicit purchase.
3. Not medical advice
STEIG is a training tool, not a medical device, and does not provide medical advice. Training plans, load and recovery insights are general guidance based on the data you provide. Consult a doctor before starting or changing a training programme, especially if you have a medical condition, are returning from injury or are pregnant. Listen to your body and stop training if you feel pain, dizziness or shortness of breath. You train at your own risk.
4. Your account
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us at tjark@steig.app if you suspect someone else is using your account. You are responsible for the information you enter being accurate.
You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile. Deletion removes your data as described in the privacy policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use STEIG in breach of applicable law or the rights of others
- access the service by automated means, or probe, disrupt or overload our systems
- reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it
- upload content that is unlawful or that you have no right to use
6. Your content
Your training data, workouts, routes and notes remain yours. You grant us the right to store and process them only as far as needed to provide STEIG to you. We do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
7. Connected services
If you connect Strava, Garmin Connect or a calendar, their own terms apply to your account with them. We depend on their interfaces and cannot guarantee that a connection stays available. You can disconnect any service in the app at any time.
8. Our rights
The app, its design, software and content (apart from your content) belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app for your own, non-commercial training purposes.
9. Availability and liability
We build STEIG with care, but as a beta it is provided as it is, without any guarantee that it is free of errors, always available or suited to a particular purpose.
We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health caused by us. To the extent permitted by law, any other liability is excluded. Mandatory consumer protection law of your country of residence remains unaffected.
10. Termination
You can stop using STEIG and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, and may end the service as a whole with reasonable notice. We will give you the chance to export your data where reasonably possible.
11. Apps from the Apple App Store
If you downloaded STEIG from the App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and is not responsible for claims relating to it, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims; these are our responsibility as far as described above. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple's Standard EULA and the App Store terms also apply, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Changes
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We will tell you about material changes in the app or by email before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account; continuing to use STEIG after the change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Place of jurisdiction is Zürich, Switzerland. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and may also bring claims before the courts there.
